When the terror of Majin Buu struck Trunks's Dark Future, Trunks dies at the hands of Super Buu, Trunks pleads to Grand Kai to let him save the earth but Grand Kai refuses, Trunks then pulls out his sword and charge Grand Kai, Grand Kai dodges his attack and beats him to the ground. Grand Kai admires Trunks's guts and lets him go to Earth with himself and two warriors, he chooses Gohan and the champion Pikkon to help him, despite their combined power they are all defeated but Gohan reveals a technique that he learnt: The Fusion Technique! Gohan and Trunks fuse and are able to defeat Super Buu despite Super Buu absorbing Pikkon
